augmented eyeballs on the floor
Hey everybody,
you might already know the Sphero toy? The cute little eyeball, size of a golf ball, that you could control through your iPhone? Of course, a neat geek toy piece of great technology. First I thought: well, it would be fun to wait for an updated version, that comes with a camera to eyedrop eavesdrop. But now I’m happy to see that they took another good and creative step with it! Use it for physically interactive Augmented Reality!
I’m sure you AR developers did try fixing Hiro marker to a remote controlled car like me. But now it’s way more elegant and their demonstration video makes me wanna try it out right now!
The character design looks really cute, their marketing video sure does, too! I’m curious on the tracking stability and when it works best. The visual tracking (probably only returning the position?) can now be supported by gyro and other sensor information from the orb (to get direction or even relative speed or positional updates). Let’s wait for hands-on experience! Sure does look like a lot of fun! :-)
Quick note: Be sure to drop by our next regular’s table next Tuesday, 15th!
